Legal Options

Whether you are an employee or customer of a company who you think has committed fraud or an agent or contractor connected to the party who you think is guilty of the violation, as a potential whistleblower you have several legal options of how to pursue a Qui Tam lawsuit.

The most rewarding option, which is encouraged by the qui tam provisions of the False Claims Act, involves contacting a qualified False Claim attorney who will handle the filing of your case in Federal Court, share your information with the U.S. Attorney’s office and work with them to investigate the fraud.  Your case remains entirely confidential while it is under seal until the investigation is complete.

Under this option, the government may choose to get involved in the lawsuit, or intervene, or they may choose to let you and your attorney proceed on your own.  The amount of your reward if the government recovers damages as a result of your lawsuit will vary depending on whether or not they chose to intervene and share in the burden of pursuing the case.

Finally, you have the option of disclosing the information you have about a suspected fraud directly to the government on your own.  This option, however, does not result in any reward to you under the False Claims Act.
